Our Story
Micro YYC is an urban indoor microgreens farm. We’ve been around since 2015 and now provide microgreens to local markets, grocers, restaurants, a local food cooperative, and home delivery service providers in Calgary and across the province. Micro YYC has grown over the years from our humble basement beginnings and now operates out of a warehouse facility, with a full team of amazing, hard-working staff.
Our Mission
Micro YYC is here to make an impact, create meaningful work and nourish the community. We strive to contribute to the strength of the local food system while taking steps towards our vision of a less wasteful world.

Our Team

Vanessa Rosewood
Founder
Self-proclaimed food enthusiast and seasoned gardener, Vanessa has always been passionate about making an impact with her chosen work. Providing good quality food to the community through Micro YYC has allowed her to do just that. It’s also put her business and marketing education, as well as research in the area of socially conscious consumerism to work. With no real background in farming, creating a microgreens farm in the middle of the city wasn’t ever on her radar as a career possibility, but a well-timed season spent farming market garden veggies made way for an undeniable pull towards this path. The local food community and the people behind the businesses have and continue to inspire and motivate her to contribute a “micro” piece to the local-food-system puzzle. Vanessa’s energy is now shared with a whole lot of family time with her partner Luke, and caring for her twin toddlers who keep her very, very busy.

Brad Stanton
Operations Manager
Musician, chef, drinker of wine, grower of plants. Brad has been involved in Calgary’s urban farming scene since 2015 when he began his own urban farming operation, providing fresh produce to some of the city’s finest restaurants. His passion for the culinary world and years of experience in small business management were perfect fits for Micro YYC. When he’s not at the farm growing flavours you will probably find him in someone’s kitchen, cooking up something delectable and jamming to French electro-pop.

Adam Eves
Customer Care
Lover of all people and things, believer of the power of small actions. In 2019 Adam found himself looking for a position that was more aligned with his beliefs, in which he could excel. Being a vegetarian and knowing the value of supporting small businesses, joining the Micro YYC team was a no-brainer. With over 10 years of delivery driving experience and a passion for getting to know the diverse community that surrounds him, Adam was perfectly equipped to become Micro YYC’s delivery driver and Customer Care Representative. He enjoys listening to audiobooks to gain knowledge and EDM to “keep his vibe up” while making deliveries. On his off days, you can find him living a simple happy life: spending quality time with his nieces and nephew, making and creating art, practicing yoga and meditation, or exploring nature.
